A Permanent Head Nurse is needed for our client in London.

Job Purpose:

To provide a high quality of animal and client care through the effective and efficient management of all clinical needs. To ensure that professional and clinical standards of care are developed and maintained throughout all the group practices.

Main Responsibilities:

- To lead and manage the smooth and efficient running of the Animal Care department and to provide a high quality of animal and client care through the effective and efficient management of all clinical needs whilst ensuring adherence of all relevant policies and procedures.

- To support the practice manager to ensure all aspects of health and safety are adhered to throughout the group which incorporates fire, risk management and clinical audits.

- To provide the link between the nursing and veterinary teams to ensure professional and resourceful assistance at all times to the staff within the group.

- To ensure all procedures and treatments are charged for correctly and the system files are maintained to the correct standard.

- To ensure the best management of all clinical resources and stock levels in line with the group policies and procedures.

- To ensure all telephone calls and queries dealt with by the nursing staff are dealt with in an appropriate manner and to a professional standard and that accurate information is provided to the clients and colleagues.

- To ensure regular and efficient maintenance of veterinary equipment in accordance with the service level agreements.

- To ensure theatre duties are correctly adhered to, compliance to all safety requirements and that the day to day nursing duties are undertaken correctly and in line with policy and procedure.

- To ensure insurance claims are accurate and current.

- To ensure nursing staff ability of in house laboratory testing, monitor and maintain isolation standards and barrier nursing are followed.

- To ensure the highest standard of general nursing duties and provide support all staff as required.

- To be responsible for the training of staff in appropriate safe nursing and handling techniques.

Leadership Responsibilities:

- To provide professional and current training to staff regarding clinical requirement and duties.

- With support from the practice manager there is a requirement to ensure legal compliancy with recruitment, development and training of nursing staff to ensure that all individuals conduct themselves in a professional way at all times whilst in the workplace.

- To ensure nursing current practices and procedures are implemented within the group.

- To conduct regular meetings with all team members and to attend regular meetings with the heads of department, practice manager and principal when required.

- To ensure Rota’s are maintained and managed resourcefully so that all practices within the group area adequately covered at all times.

- To maintain and record all absence, holiday and overtime records.

To qualify for this position you must be fully registered with the RCVS and you must be eligible to work in the UK.
