We are working with a Brand New small animal Referral Veterinary Practice based in Wakefield, West Yorkshire. They are looking a Night Ward RVN to provide first class animal care within their ward nursing team. This is an excellent opportunity to join a brand new team in a brand new practice. 

The Practice: 

Emerging from a successful referral service, our client is a brand new, purpose-built referral centre in Wakefield, offering exceptional patient care with cutting-edge veterinary medicine and addressing key issues facing referral vets in the region. Their extensive facilities are housed in one of the largest and best equipped purpose-built small animal referral centres in the UK. They share a clear vision, to deliver the best, most caring and highly advanced treatment possible to patients and their owners in the North of England. Their state-of-the-art facilities are situated in pleasant, clean surroundings allowing the highest level of care, providing a high level of service to the client. 

Their new facilities include a Digital imaging department, fixed 1.5T 18 channel MRI whole body scanner, 16 slice CT scanner, X-Ray and fluoroscopy, Endoscopy, Ultrasound and electro-diagnostics, operating microscopy, 24 hour intensive care facilities, 5 Ultra-hygienic operating theatres, 8 consulting rooms, spacious and comfortable waiting room with a separate cat waiting area. 

They are committed to providing a multi-disciplinary referral service for patients, their owners, and referring vets. Their disciplines will include; Anaesthesia, Cardiology, Dermatology, Diagnostic Imaging, Internal medicine, Oncology, Ophthalmology, Orthopaedic Surgery, Soft Tissue Surgery. 

The Role:

The role of the Night Ward Nurse is critical to the provision of high standards of client and patient care. The purpose of this position is to serve as a provider of care to hospitalised patients. Support and co-ordination of training nursing staff and veterinary nursing assistants are important aspects of the role. Working closely with other personnel at all times is essential in order to ensure the smooth running of the wards and kennels. High standards of patient care are to be maintained at all times. All nursing staff are jointly responsible for effective stock control and rotation.

Previous experience of nursing within a referral practice is not necessary as newcomers to the nursing team are given all the help, support, and training that they need in order to realise their full potential. The ideal candidate will be enthusiastic, ready to learn and hit the ground running in this excellent new venture. 

In return, the referral centre offers highly competitive salary which is dependent on experience, along with a training package for referral training. The benefits on offer include CPD allowance with 2 CPD days off, Registration fees paid and 4 weeks annual leave and Bank holidays are shared equally with lieu days for bank holidays worked, all within a happy and extremely friendly working environment.
