We are currently recruiting on behalf of a long established practice based in Angus, Scotland who are looking for a new Mixed Veterinary Surgeon to join them on a full-time permanent basis. They will be able to accommodate a new graduate right through to a very experienced vet.
This is a vibrant two-clinic practice with a young support team. There is a very varied caseload that encourages self-development in a supportive environment. The position offers the opportunity of a daily operating schedule at each of the fully staffed clinics. It also has the advantage of a full daily consulting diary.
Traditionally, the practice was a rural farm practice. Despite the transition to a mainly small animal workload they are still proud of their roots and enjoy the large animal workload which includes routine fertility, obstetrics, lameness, tuberculin testing, cattle health scheme, blood testing and daily fire brigade examinations. They provide a first-rate service to this sector and find that there is sufficient work to allow veterinary colleagues to gain experience.
The practice provides its own out-of-hours emergency service. This is shared between the vets. There is no second on-call and the out of hours workload is light.
They are looking for a full-time mixed veterinary surgeon to complete their 4-vet team, who will be involved in all sectors of the practice. The practice has the scope and resources to take on a new/recent graduate or an experienced vet.
The successful candidate would take on their own caseload, operate daily (at their own level) and share in the daily farm visits. You will have an equal share in one-in-four out-of-hours rota.
The role is full-time working 4.5 days per week with shifts between 8:30 and 7:00 pm on a rota basis. This will include 1 mid-week on-call per week.
You will be a team member, motivated in your profession and keen to develop. You should have good communication skills and be able to demonstrate empathy. It is important that you can integrate into the community and with the veterinary team. A good social life, personal hobbies and a keenness to settle in a new environment would be advantageous. You must be eligible to work in the UK, fluent in English, valid driving licence.
