We are currently working with a friendly, independent practice in Somerset that has been providing excellent care for animals over many years, in their local community. They are currently looking to recruit a qualified veterinary nurse on a permanent basis.

The Practice:

This is a mixed RCVS accredited practice situated in Somerset, a beautiful county featuring a dramatic coastline, epic English countryside and historic places. They have 4 surgeries and currently employ 14 dedicated vets and 25 nurses working with small animals. This clinic offers a wide range of services which include: ultrasound scanning, endoscopy, dentistry, ECG, on-site laboratory, orthopaedics, ophthalmology, laparoscopic bitch spays, cardiology, chemotherapy, X-rays, dog training and behaviour advice. Their nursing team effectively contribute to the overall care provided for their clients and patients in their companion animal division. Working in their four well-equipped surgeries, their steadfast and professional team of nurses run their own clinics which include dental check-ups, puppy parties, mobility, weight and nutrition management, plus they also care for their hospitalised patients and assist with all surgical and medical procedures. This is a training centre that places great importance on the support and development of their team which also includes student nurses, animal care & kennel assistants. 

The Role:

This is a full-time permanent position working Monday to Friday on a varied 8-hour shift rota between 7.30 am – 20.00 pm- 37.5 hours per week. – 1:5 Saturday morning with 1: 10 including Out of Hours/On-call all weekend and 1:10 OOHs during the week [OOHs work paid extra]

Hours: Full Time – Varied rota Monday – Friday 37.5 hours per week

Weekend/Out of Hours/On Call: 1:5 Saturday morning and 1:10 all weekend including Oncall/OOHs

OOHs: 1:10 during the week

Sole Charge: No

Branch Work: Possibly working across 2 branches

Computer System: Assisi

Vehicle: Required

Salary: Highly competitive – between £18,000 and up to £20,500 -dependent on experience + CPD plus OOHs paid as extra + practice annual bonus + Pension + Staff Discount + Local shopping discounts + 25 days holiday after the 1st year in service [22 days in the 1st year] – excluding bank holidays
