We are currently recruiting on behalf of a well-established, progressive, first opinion mixed practice who are looking to take on a permanent full-time small animal Veterinary Surgeon.
The practice has grown significantly in recent years, and are currently undergoing a programme of major refurbishment. They run their small and large animal departments separately. Across the two departments, they have 19 vets, including 14 small animal and 5 large animal vets. They operate across three small animal surgeries in the local area. Their facilities allow for good case work up and include a state of the art DR digital x-ray machine, ECG, flexible endoscope, ultrasound scanner, tonometer, infusion pumps and a well-equipped lab including an electrolyte analyzer.
The practice is proud to offer their own out of hours service, not only to give their clients a better service but also to increase case exposure to their vets, thus allowing them to build experience and confidence in dealing with emergency and critical care patients.
The role is a full time permanent veterinary position, on shifts between 8.00 am and 7.00 pm. There is a weekend rota of 1.5 in 8 with time off in-lieu, which involves being on-call on Friday, working Saturday morning, and being on call for the Sunday. The vet would then receive Monday and Tuesday off in lieu. Or working on-call on Saturday with a Friday off in-lieu. In addition, the vet would be on-call one night a week every other week with the following day off in lieu. There is no telephone work, there will be an experienced nurse on-call and for recent graduates on-call backup will be provided.
The vet will work between 2 of the 3 branches to try and maintain case continuity, some sole charge may be required but in general, you will have the support of a well-experienced team of excellent and dedicated vets, nurses and receptionists.
In return, the practice can offer a generous salary commensurate with experience, a corporate health plan, corporate gym membership, cycle to work scheme, CPD and certificates are actively encouraged with an annual budget of £1000.
Accommodation is available to vets who are relocating, the practice has a lovely modern apartment close to their main site, close to local amenities.
The practice would prefer candidates to be experienced, but this is not essential. The ideal candidate will share the same values as the practice and strive to achieve the highest standards of patient care.
