We are working with a client based in Sunderland, Tyne & Wear that has a fantastic opportunity for a forward thinking, ambitious Veterinary Surgeon. The position is permanent working full-time and would suit an experienced small animal vet.
The practice is within walking distance to the sea and lovely beaches of the north east coastline. Easy access from the A19 and A1 motorways and good transport links with bus routes passing frequently as well as the local Metro train station being close to the practice.
Their bright, spacious, air-conditioned surgery is RCVS accredited and purpose built to industry leading standards including 2 theatres, imaging/dental suite, dog ward, cat ward, rabbit ward, separate cat waiting room, 4 consult rooms (expansion coming in 2017 to 6 consults), large reception area, digital x-ray, ultrasound, capnograph. They have a visiting referral team who attend the practice fortnightly for orthopaedic referral cases and ultrasonography cases. They are a Gold Standard Feline Friendly Practice (ISFM) and also an Accredited Rabbit Friendly Practice (RAW).
Our client is looking for someone to join their happy, friendly and fun team. The successful candidate will be supported by a strong and dedicated nursing team with over 90 years’ experience from our RVN’s. They are a training centre for vet nurses and in addition they have both VN and vet have students in the practice throughout the year building on the future of our veterinary profession.

The role is full-time and the working hours will consist of 4 weekdays + Saturday rota with no on call & no OOH duties.
The ideal candidate will be competent with general surgery and emergency procedures. There may be periods of sole charge so you must be comfortable with this.
In return our client is offering a salary of circa £45,000 p/a (DOE) + Excellent Benefit Package including:
- 5 working days paid to attend CPD with an unlimited budget on CPD.
- Funding available for certificates.
- Pension included.
- Standard holiday allowance of 4 weeks plus bank holidays with an additional day added to the allowance on your anniversary of working with our client to maximum addition of 10 days.
