We are working with a practice based in Northampton, Northamptonshire that is looking for a Weekend Veterinary Surgeon to join them on a permanent basis.
Rated “Outstanding” by the RCVS across multiple categories including Emergency and Critical Care, Team and Professional Responsibility, Client Service, Patient Consultation Service and Diagnostic Service and rated “Good” in In-Patient Service, you would be joining an established and well respected team in the centre of Northampton. They have also just been accredited RCVS hospital, which is a great achievement!
The practice is based on the St James Road, just a 10 minute walk from Northampton train station which has direct trains into central London. There is free onsite parking and easy access to the M1 and A43 for vets preferring to commute by car. You enter the practice into a bright, spacious reception with separate dog and cat waiting areas. The practice has 5 air conditioned consult rooms, a large prep area, separate dog, cat and isolation wards, theatre, X-ray and ultrasound lab, pharmacy and colleague rest area.
You would be joining a busy practice with a varied and interesting caseload including complex and orthopaedic surgery. The practice have a dedicated night team who provide OOH cover for six other practices as well as working closely with the RSPCA and other local charities. The team have built exceptionally strong and trusted relationships with their clients and they are looking for a vet who enjoys this side of the role just as much as the clinical responsibilities.
By joining this lovely team you will be working alongside 8 vets, 9 RVNs, 5 student nurses, 2 veterinary care assistants, 7 receptionists and a practice manager and assistant practice manager. The team benefit from having certificate holders in general practice and surgery with another two vets working towards their own surgical certificates. The partners are hugely encouraging of all further study and development and offer a generous CPD allowance.
As this role is in addition to the existing veterinary team, the partners are very flexible regarding the hours and rota. Ideally, the role would be to work every weekend (Saturday and Sunday) from 9am through to 5pm however they will also consider every other weekend, Saturdays only or shorter shifts (e.g. 4 hours).
