We are looking for a full time veterinary surgeon to join a practice based in South Wales, around Bridgend area on a permanent basis.
The practice has a large, experienced and lovely team that work together within their busy hospital.
The current practice team is made up of 12 vets and we are looking to increase this to 14. They have a supportive team with that works hard and socialises together, there is a healthy mix of newly qualified vets and highly experienced vets.
This means if you are newly qualified they have experience with training new grads and can support this exciting start to your career. They are a busy practice with a varied caseload, this has enabled some of their graduate vets to complete their PDP within a year.
For an experienced veterinary surgeon, they offer the opportunity to expand surgical experience through a busy and varied surgical list, gain sole charge experience at branch level, further enhance medical knowledge via our busy Tier 3 hospital ward. They are fully supportive further training ambitions and certificates are encouraged.
They work alongside certificate holders in cardiology and ophthalmology and have other vets working towards certificates, as a result they are very fortunate not to refer many cases.
Their great team of nurses who will support you. This includes a head nurse, a specialist theatre nurse, 7 RVN’s and 8 SVN’s. These fantastic nurses are here 24-7 and answer the out of hour’s calls – this means that you’re on-call duty only involves the actual emergency work.
They pride themselves on providing a full out of hours’ emergency service and this is shared on a rota basis.
Weekend coverage is 1 in 4. However, the practice believes in true work live balance and to ensure Vets get this balance right there are rota’ d days off after OOH work and a maximum working week of 45 hours. While on call you have the support of a senior vet as “back up” to discuss cases, assist you and attend if required.
They are based in Bridgend, South Wales. With quick access to the beautiful welsh coast line for great surfing, coastal walks and many other water sports. An hour away from the beautiful Brecon Beacons mountain range with its hiking trails and annual Jazz festival. They are close to Cardiff – which is has been voted 3rd most liveable city in the UK! London is accessible through a 2-hour train trip.
Confident, experienced or new grad veterinary surgeon who wishes to concentrate on small animal in a fast pace and varied environment.

Weekends: 1 in 3 (9 am - 2 pm Sat & Sun)
Salary: Circa £45,000 + competitive salary package and CPD allowance.
