We are working with an amazing practice in Barnsley that is looking to recruit a full-time Veterinary Nurse on a permanent basis.
This is a fantastic opportunity to join a supportive and friendly practice.
Our client consists of 1 main centre and 7 branches, the main centre is in Barnsley and this is where all the operating is done. As a result all of the branches are consulting only and are in the area of Barnsley and to the North of Sheffield, all of which are no more than 15-20 minutes drive away from the main centre. The main centre is very comprehensively equipped, with equipment including:
EG Ultrasound, Direct Digital Radiography, ECG, Video Endoscopy, Pulse Oximetry, a good range of Orthopaedic equipment, Hydrotherapy etc.
They have recently expanded their Main Centre to 4 Op theatres with 2 further operating areas, plus 4 consulting rooms. The facilities include: Two additional kennel rooms, Hydrotherapy and also have an associate Physio, with possibly a grooming parlour in the near future.
All of their practices are air conditioned including branches, to provide great for client and pet comfort, as well as staff.
There are approximately 15-30 surgical procedures completed per day, these are from a wide range of procedures and these can of course vary from cat castrate to Aural ablation to Fracture repair. The practice has RX works as the computer software and the whole practice is permanently linked by broadband.
This is a full-time role with weekday shifts that will be within the practice opening times, they open at 7:30 am and close at 8 pm so the shifts will be 7.5 hours between those times. The weekend rota is 1 per month which is 8 am – 5 pm and this is paid extra to their salary at roughly £115 per day.
You will cover the different areas of nursing of which changes on a daily basis, so one day they might be on inpatients and the following on theatre, they are very flexible and accommodating.
There will be branch work involved also, so having a driving license would be essential. The branches are consulting branches only so there the nurses see post op checks, weight clinics, discharges, nail clips etc and this is for a maximum of 3 hours per day, the rest of the time based at the main site. Nurses do not do reception. The nurse takes the on call phone and checks on any inpatients roughly twice through the night, there is a practice flat on site if required. This is again paid extra to their salary at £40 Mon-Thu, £50 Fri and £70 Sat and Sun, they do this roughly twice a month extra to the working week spaced out throughout the month on a rota system. They make it so that they start their shift the following day 11 of 12:30 pm so they get extra time away from work after the on call finishes at 7:30 am.
If the candidate does not want to be paid for the on calls they can take it as holiday time at half a day off Mon-Fri or a full day off Sat-Sun when the rota allows.
