We are recruiting for a permanent large animal veterinary surgeon, covering large animal and equine (50/50 split), to join our clients expanding friendly practice, based in Dundee, Eastern Scotland. The practice is looking for a competent Equine and Farm vet that will be joining this team as a mainly ambulatory vet.

The Practice:

The purpose-built surgery has been open since earlier 2000 and they currently have 70 employees over 3 sites. The Dundee surgery provides on-site parking, large workrooms, and reception, 2 sterile op rooms, dental room, diagnostic suite with digital X-ray facility, an Equine area which is expanding. Three sets of equine stocks to allow safe and easy access to any horse. Two stables and a secure area for trot -ups. They can now offer many more supportive clinics for their clients and pets. Endoscopy, ultrasound and specialised orthopaedic work are also available on site. Also, the practice receives referral cases of colic and surgical. Construction of a large extension is due to start soon.

The Role:

This role is a full-time permanent position working 39 hours Monday - Friday with shifts of 08.30-17.00. The out of hours rota is currently 1 in 5 but will be moving to 1 in 6 with the addition of a new vet, however, in busy periods such as calving there may be the requirement to double up on the rota. a weekend rota of 1.6 on call. The weekend rota is every 5th-weekend on-call, following this you will receive the Monday off and every vet receives a half day off every week.

In this role, you will be covering duties that include 50% equine and 50% farm work, so the candidate should be competent in both disciplines, also there will be sole charge whilst on-call so you must be comfortable with this. The main daily duties of the role are Ambulatory.

The Candidate:

The practice is looking for a large animal veterinary surgeon with at least one year plus experience but would consider new graduate. The candidate should be very motivated and take ownership and have good communications skills. This practice is looking for an easy going candidate that is very hands-on and is happy to get on with the role.
