We are currently recruiting a Lead Veterinary Surgeon for a hospital in Aurora, Illinois (USA).

The Practice:

Our client is a full-service companion animal hospital. Our client's services and facilities include Routine Veterinary Care, Urgent and Emergency Care, Digital Xrays, Dental Radiography, Advanced Surgeries, Orthopedics, Fully Stocked Pharmacy, Dental Cleaning and Extractions, and Microchipping.

The Role:

This Lead Veterinarian position is a multifaceted position with a mixture of clinical and management duties working with 3-5 experienced and highly motivated colleagues. While under the supervision of the Hospital Manager for all non-medical work topics and the Regional Medical Director, you must be able to effectively and accurately diagnose, perform surgery, and treat an array of patients. Be proficient in a variety of skills including laboratory, pharmacy, radiology, surgery, diagnostics, dental, and nursing skills. Have a proven ability to perform all basic surgeries, including the use of all standard medical instruments and equipment. With this role comes a number of management duties including maintain practice growth and review financial reports, work collaboratively with the Practice Manager for administrative management. Provide feedback and changes to the training program, Mentor employees in the training program, Provide guidance to the support staff to assure that the shift flows well, Mentor employees for career advancement and personal development towards goals and provide input to the hospital manager for 360-degree employee performance evaluations. The working rota/schedule is completely negotiable for the right candidate

The Candidate:

This position would suit a Veterinarian with a minimum of 5 years post-graduation clinical experience or a Senior Veterinarian looking to have more input to how a practice operates. Our client is looking for someone who can lead a team and set standards of care and protocols in medical and surgical areas. You must have the ability to lead and establish a vision for the practice team, manage time, prioritize, and thrive in a fast-paced and high-pressure environment. This position is open to non-US qualified veterinarians from accredited University's as visa support is offered. In return, our client is offering a fantastic packing including a salary of $90,000-$100,000+ (subject to experience), Profit Share, Health Insurance, Paid Holidays, 401K with 4% match plus much more. To be eligible for the role you must be a Doctor of Veterinary Medicine (DVM) or related degree from an accredited university prior to position start date and have licensure in good standing to practice in the state. For UK qualified vets if you graduated from an AVMA accredited school this is extremely desirable. For the UK this is Edinburgh, RVC, UCD, and Glasgow. If you haven’t graduated from an AVMA accredited school, you would need to sit the ‘North American Veterinary Licensing Examination’ (NAVLE) in order to be eligible to practice in Illinois.
