We are working on behalf of our client who is looking for a permanent Veterinary Surgeon to join its growing practice based in Lytham St Annes. This independent practice is looking for a Vet with at least 3 year's experience.
The practice currently provides a first opinion small animal service with relevant referral services such as dermatology, orthopaedics and ophthalmology readily available. They also offer a second opinion and/or referral service for exotic medicine and surgery. The practice participates in the voluntary inspection programme administered by the Royal College of Veterinary Surgeons, and they are proud to hold accreditation as a Tier 2 (Small Animal Practice). They are also an Approved Training Centre for Nurses and employ a team of 25 including 8 Vets, 10 Nurses and 7 Support Staff. They also provide a secure, reliable Out of Hours Emergency Service.
Having recently undergone an extensive refurbishment, our client is proud to be the first practice in the region to offer separate waiting areas for cats and dogs. The extended premises is now spread over 2 floors with state of the art facilities including:-
- Digital X-ray
- Radio Surgery Unit
- Dental Services
- ASIF Orthopaedic Kit
- Vettest in-house biochemistry
- Critical Care Incubators
- Vivariums for the hospitalisation of reptiles before surgery
- Nebuliser for delivering medication to rabbits, rats and birds with respiratory infections
- Gavage tubes for delivering medication to more demanding patients, such as tortoises and birds
This is a full-time, permanent position working a 35 hour week over 4 days with working hours of 08.30-18.30 and a weekend rota of 1 in 4 Saturdays 08.30-12.30. There is also a rota of 1 in 4 for Out Of Hours cover.
In this role, you will be covering consults, operations and sole charge whilst covering Out of Hours shifts. Basic surgery skills, including neutering, are essential. In return, our client is offering a competitive salary and benefits package, subject to experience, including:-

This practice is looking for a Veterinary Surgeon with at least 3 years experience as there are elements of sole charge required. You will be confident in basic surgery skills with a can-do attitude and strong team skills. This practice firmly believes that its professional staff are at the very heart of everything it does so is looking for a positive, ambitious person with a good sense of humour who is keen to get stuck in. Candidates with an interest in exotic animals would be of particular interest.
