We are working on behalf of an independent, small animal practice based in Quinton in the West Midlands, who are looking to recruit a permanent full-time Veterinary Surgeon.

The Practice:

This practice is an independent small animal, first opinion and referral practice with a strong vet team of 15, including 4 certificate holders (Cardiology, Dermatology, Soft tissue/Orthopaedic, and Surgery). There are a number of branches in the practice with multiple operating theatres and combined facilities including:-

  • General purpose X-ray equipment
  • Digital X-ray equipment
  • Dedicated dental X-ray unit
  • Ultrasound machine
  • MRI scanning
  • Blood pressure monitor
  • ECG equipment
  • In-house laboratory for biochemistry and haematology
  • Incubators for very ill patients
  • Surgical equipment to allow a wide range of soft tissue and orthopaedic work

You will be joining a great forward-thinking team, independently voted twice as ‘Best UK Vet’ and ‘Practice of the Year’.

The Role:

This is a full-time permanent role, working 4.5 days per week from Monday to Friday in shifts between the hours of 09.00-19.00. Shifts will be 3 days working 09.00-19.00, 1 day 09.00-13.00 and 1 day 09.00-17.00. You will be part of a weekend rota working 1 in 10 weekends with a day off in lieu the following week.

You will also be part of the out of hours rota working 1 in 10 shifts and fully supported with back-up from 4 partners. On-site accommodation in the form of an en-suite bedroom is available for out of hours shifts if required. In return, our client is offering a competitive salary and benefits package, subject to experience, which includes a salary of up to £50,000 per annum and rewards for developing the practice which will be performance-related. The Candidate:

This practice is looking for a Veterinary Surgeon with at least 3 years' experience as elements of sole charge will be required. You will be enthusiastic, with a passion for consulting and will be keen to drive the business forward, which will be rewarded via a franchise model rewards package. You will be confident in basic surgery and consultations and happy to work alone on occasions.
