We are working with a long established 4-branch veterinary practice in Powys that has served the local large and small animal community for over 100 years. They are hoping to add to their expanding team with a permanent mixed animal Veterinary Surgeon.

The Practice:

This practice currently employs in excess of 20 Vets and 30 support staff to offer the highest levels of care for all species of animal. They are proud to be one of very few local practices to offer their own emergency out of hours cover. They are an RCVS accredited practice and are registered with the RCVS as a Veterinary Nurse Training Centre. Across their branches, they have state of the art equipment allowing for thorough diagnosis and specialist treatment that includes:

  • 24hr local emergency care
  • X-ray facilities
  • Ultrasound
  • Companion animal operation rooms
  • In-house laboratory
  • 15-minute small animal consultations
  • Purpose built lambing rooms
  • Herd & Pet health plans
  • Sample analysis
  • Post-mortems
  • Routine site visits

The Role:

This is a full-time, permanent role, that would suit a Vet with at least 1 year's experience, however, the practice will consider a newly-qualified Vet who displays the right qualities. Typical duties will include farm visits, operations and consultations and no sole charge will be required. Working hours are full-time, 37.5 per week in shifts of 09.00-17.30. Weekends are on a rota of 1 in 5 full weekends as are Out of Hours which are also 1 in 5. There will be some branch work travelling between 4 local branches and a vehicle will be provided for farm visits. In return, our client is offering a competitive salary and benefits package, dependent on experience, that includes a CPD allowance and 21 days holiday including Bank Holidays and accommodation may be provided. Certificates would also be supported.

The Candidate:

You should be confident, hard-working, driven, and possess good communication skills. A particular interest in high-level poultry or equine would also be an advantage. This is a true rural mixed practice and you should have good team skills to fit in well with the rest of the team.
