We are working on behalf of a friendly, small animal practice based in Colchester, Essex that is looking for a Veterinary Surgeon to join them on a permanent basis. Our client is looking for a vet with a minimum of 2 years in practice experience that has good surgical, medical and consulting skills.

The Practice:

This practice strives to offer the highest quality medical, surgical and nursing care for their patients. The considerable refurbishment has been undertaken and now proudly has a new designated cat and dog kennels, separate cat consulting periods and a cat advocate team recognising the individual specific requirements for the pets they treat. The practice has also been awarded silver status from ISFM (International Society of Feline Medicine) for our feline patient care and facilities. With a wide range of modern diagnostic facilities enable a thorough workup of cases and treatments at a local level whilst identifying cases where patients require referral to specialist hospital centres. The practice also has a designated emergency service for out of hours emergencies. This Veterinary Surgery offers a wide range of diagnostic services, including radiography, endoscopy and an in-house laboratory, which can perform many routine haematological and biochemical tests. Pulse oximetry and blood pressure monitoring can be used during anaesthesia, which is performed using up-to-date anaesthetic protocols and ECGs are performed for diagnostic or surveillance purposes. The veterinary team of 13 staff (3 vets, 5 nurses, 5 support staff) bring a wealth of experience to the practice and have individually obtained high standards of professional qualification.

The Role:

This a full-time permanent role where you will be working 4 days per week, with a weekend rota of 1 in 5 Saturday mornings. There are no out of hours or branch work involved with this role, giving you a great work/life balance. Will be some sole charge on a Saturday. In return, our client is offering a competitive salary and benefits package, dependent on experience, that includes:

The Candidate:

Our client is looking for an experienced small animal Veterinary Surgeon, with at least 2 years of in practice experience. It is important that you have good surgical, medical and consulting skills. You should also be confident and have good communication skills, a forward thinker and a team player, and computer literate.
