  • Client:

We are looking for a full time experienced veterinary surgeon to join a practice based in South Wales, around the Bridgend area on a permanent basis. The practice has a large, experienced and lovely team that work together within their busy hospital. The practice would prefer an experienced vet but would consider applications from a confident new graduate.

The Practice:

They currently have a fantastic team of 12 Vets which is made up of a healthy mid of highly experienced vets and newly qualified, who are supported by a team of 7 Nurses and 8 SNV’s. This means if you are newly qualified they have experience with training new grads and can support this exciting start to your career. They are a busy practice with a varied caseload, which has enabled some of their graduate vets to complete their PDP within a year.

For an experienced veterinary surgeon, they can offer the opportunity to expand your surgical experience through a busy and varied surgical list, gain sole charge experience at branch level, further enhance medical knowledge via their busy Tier 3 hospital ward. They are fully supportive of further training ambitions and certificates are encouraged. The team works alongside certificate holders in cardiology and ophthalmology and have other vets working towards certificates, as a result, they are very fortunate not to refer many cases.

They are all supportive and approachable; always offering advice/support as and when necessary to clients and also each other! Their fantastic nurses are here 24-7 and answer the out of hour’s calls - this means that your on-call duty only involves the actual emergency work.

This practice offers outstanding standards of small animal care and the Royal College of Veterinary Surgeons highest Tier 3 accredited diagnostic and treatment facilities. They have a wide range of facilities available including 24-hour nursing care, Intensive Care Facilities such as oxygen units and intravenous fluid pumps. Operating facilities and diagnostic equipment such as ultrasound machines, operating theatres, endoscopy, and ECG. Our client is based in Bridgend, South Wales, with access to the beautiful coastline and the Brecon Beacons. They are close to Cardiff - which is has been voted 3rd most liveable city in the UK!

The Role:

This is a full-time role, where you will be working a maximum of 45 hours per week with a weekend rota of one in four. The practice is proud to provide a full out of hour’s service to their clients and this is on a share basis. However, the practice believes in true work/life balance and to ensure their vets get this balance right there is rota’d days off after OOH work. Whilst on-call you have the support of a senior vet as “back-up” to discuss cases, assist you and attend if required.

The Candidate:

Although our client is looking for an experienced Veterinary Surgeon, they are open to receiving applications from confident new graduates.
