We are working with a client with a practice based in Aylesbury, Buckinghamshire that is looking to recruit a small animal Veterinary Surgeon on a full-time permanent basis.

The Practice:

This is a practice that realises your pets are very much part of the family. Pride themselves on the qualified capability of the team to deliver comprehensive medical and surgical services for dogs, cats, children’s pets and exotic species. The experience shows that those ‘family members’ entrusted to them need love and tender care to help them make a full recovery. The current team of 4 vets are a highly experienced team. Like to work as many of the cases up in house, and have a good client base with many insured clients to facilitate this. The practice treats a lot of exotic pets but the new candidate is not required to have any knowledge of these and will rarely have to treat them, as they have 2 vets at the practice with a specialist interest. Also, have a 24 hour dedicated team of veterinary surgeons and nursing staff to provide a highly efficient and comfortable hospital and intensive care treatment. The surgery is equipped to a high standard:

  • Ultrasound
  • Digital Radiology (X-Ray)
  • ECG
  • 2 fully-equipped operating theatres
  • Dental Theatre and Dental Radiology
  • In-house Diagnostics Laboratory
  • 3 Consultation Suites
  • Isolation and Intensive Care Units
  • Vivaria for the reptile in-patients
  • Large comfortable waiting area
  • Shop selling diets and pet supplies

The Role:

This is a permanent position for a Veterinary Surgeon. This position is full time including weekend rota of 1 in 5, Saturday hours being 09.00 - 17.00 and Sunday 11.00 - 16,00, with no out of hours. There is a full day off during the week before, and the week after the working weekend (Thursday before, Wednesday after) and a half-day off during the other 3 weeks of the rota. The remaining weekday shifts are either 10.00 - 19.00 or 09.00 - 17.00. The weekends are sole charge, although they will be able to provide some support to start with. They would also prefer a vet who has already had some experience working in the UK. In return, our clients are offering an excellent salary for the right candidate.

The Candidate:

Our clients are looking for a confident vet with at least 2 years experience, including some surgical experience. Excellent client care and pet welfare standards are their main priority, so you’ll need to share their passion for delivering this level of service. Along with the support of the rest of the team, you will be able to utilise and develop your skills and expertise to provide a high standard of care to meet your clients’ expectations.
