We are working with a lovely mixed veterinary practice in the Harrogate area of North Yorkshire that is looking for an enthusiastic veterinary surgeon to join their 4 vet practice. This RCVS accredited, mixed practice (65% small animal, 20% farm, 15% equine) are looking for a vet with 2-5 years' experience of working in mixed practice but would consider and support a more recent graduate.
The Veterinary Surgery is an RCVS accredited practice based in North Yorkshire. Providing care for cats, dogs, small pets, horses and farms throughout the area. The practice has an emergency on-call 24 hours a day, provided by the surgeries own vets. At the surgery, they have a large inviting, air-conditioned reception and waiting area. Fully computerised patient records and billing system. Modern ultrasound, video endoscopy, and digital X-ray facilities, full in -house haematology, biochemistry and urinalysis. Two air-conditioned consulting rooms, and also two well equipped operating rooms (with air conditioning in the main room). Air-conditioned kennel area for the small animal patients. The Vets at the surgery are supported by dedicated and caring nursing, reception and administrative staff. They all have a wealth of experience which can be called on to help and advise the clients.
This is a full-time permanent role with the basic Monday-Friday shift being 09:00-17:00. Then the out of hours rota is equally shared between all four vets, they breakdown as follows -
Add on 1 in 4 evenings 17:00-19:00 (then on-call overnight)
Add on 1 in 4 evenings 'second on-call' 17:00-18:30
Add on 1 in 4 Saturday mornings 09:00-13:00
Add on 1 in 4 whole weekends (working Saturday 09:00-13:00 and then covering on-call for the rest of Saturday and Sunday)
In return for working the full weekend, you will receive Monday afternoon off and the next Friday, Saturday, and Sunday off.
In return, they are offering a salary will be competitive depending on experience. They will include an accommodation allowance, a tax-free mileage allowance for the business use of your own car, a mobile phone and will pay for your home phone and broadband. CPD is encouraged and paid for.
The annual holiday allowance is 29 working days plus you get time back for coverage when the other vets are on holiday. The result is that if you take your holiday carefully and combine it with your long weekends off, you can stretch the allowance to 10 weeks.
This is a truly mixed position in an independently owned (non-corporate) practice. You could be repairing a dog’s cruciate in the morning and calving a cow in the beautiful Yorkshire Dales in the afternoon. You won’t have to do any cattle TB testing.
You’ll be based at our clients' well-equipped surgery, where you will work with three other vets, four qualified veterinary nurses and five reception/office staff.
