We are currently working with a delightful independent practice situated in a lovely location yet with easy links to motorway access and commuter routes e.g. 5 minutes drive from the M5, 30 minutes from Birmingham airport and 60 minutes from Bristol airport. The team is looking for a small animal Veterinary Surgeon to join their dedicated and expanding team.
This clinic is a registered nursing training practice and due to expansion, they are looking to recruit a small animal Veterinary Surgeon to join their team of 2 vets, 2 RVN’s, 1 soon to be qualified Veterinary Nurse and 1 SVN, plus administrative support staff. Their services include:
- 24-hour emergency service 365 days a year
- Full range of surgical procedures - including general soft tissue, dental, orthopaedic, ophthalmic and cryosurgery
- Range of anaesthesia with top of the range monitoring equipment to suit standard and non-standard patients
- In house laboratory for complete biochemistry and haematology blood profiles, urinalysis, microscopy, cytology, parasitology and microbiology.
- Digital x-ray machine and ultrasound scanner for small animal and equine diagnostic work.
- Titre testing
- Electrocardiogram (ECG) equipment
This is a full-time position working Monday to Friday 8.30 - 18.30 with very little sole charge (possibly some at the weekend) providing a varied caseload for an enthusiastic, small animal Veterinary Surgeon. They provide 24/7 cover which means the candidate will be required to work some OOHs - 1 night per week - and weekends are on a rota of 1 in 3 or 1 in 4 Saturdays 9.00 - 12.00 and Sundays 18.00-19.00 with the remaining time on call. Accommodation can be provided for on-call working plus it would also be available for the first 6 months of employment should the successful applicant be relocating to the area. In return, our client is offering a competitive salary, dependent on experience, plus 20 days holiday (rising to an extra day per year of service up to 25) and Bank Holidays plus CPD and VDS fees paid.
This position would suit a confident new graduate as the practice is prepared to offer support and development under their graduate friendly scheme. The successful candidate would be able to work up their own cases and be encouraged to grow both surgically and medically.
