We are currently recruiting on behalf of a large, independent veterinary group based in Derby, Derbyshire who is looking for an Ophthalmology Veterinary Nurse to join their team. This is a full-time permanent role where you will organise the ophthalmology department and team members throughout the day and liaise with other areas as required.
Our client is well regarded first opinion small animal veterinary practice that is one of the largest providers of veterinary care locally while maintaining the personal touch. They have 12 practices currently and have recently opened 3 new practices. Their principle site is where they provide first opinion treatments plus referral services for their own clients and other practices. Additionally, they have their own dedicated night teams. The facilities at all sites are contemporary and have a culture of discovery to ensure they stay ahead of the latest findings and recommendations.
Many of their dedicated vets and nurses have further postgraduate qualifications in their area of interest. Their small animal hospital based in Derby is a purpose-built hospital with state of the art facilities. Their amenities include spacious and comfortable wards, isolation wards and an intensive care unit. As well as 5 operating theatres, imaging suite including ultrasound, CT scanner, MRI scanner, and radiography. They are also able to offer a range of specialists and specialist equipment for ophthalmology, dermatology, dentistry, cardiology, and surgery with full rehabilitation and hydrotherapy facilities.
The Role and Candidate:
This Ophthalmology Registered Veterinary Nurse role will be tasked with organising the ophthalmology department and team members throughout the day and liaise with other areas as required (theatre, wards, imaging). Our client is not expecting applicants to be specialists in this area at the time of applying, so having an interest in ophthalmology is sufficient.
There will be opportunities to assist the ophthalmologists with surgical and non-surgical procedures, and time to provide one to one care to their very important patients.
The ophthalmology team is a friendly dynamic team that comprises a nurse, an intern and four specialist ophthalmologists who see a large range of medical and surgical cases. The team is dedicated to outstanding patient care and are happy to share their knowledge. While in the ophthalmology team you will be working with the theatre and in-patient care teams in our clients' busy referral hospital as well as the wider team at the practice. There are plenty of occasions to work alongside the other dedicated veterinary professionals. They can offer assistance with relocation costs if relevant.
This is a full-time role where you will be generally working Monday to Friday from 8.30 to 18:00, and there are minimal on-call requirements in this role. Weekend working would be 1 in 6 with lieu time allowed for the following week.
