We are currently recruiting on behalf of a friendly, independent RCVS accredited practice based in the historic county of Sussex, within commuter distance of London or the south coast & close to Gatwick airport. Our client is currently looking to recruit a permanent veterinary small animal surgeon to join their compassionate veterinary team on a full-time basis.
This is a well-established, busy, independent, forward-thinking, first opinion practice with the clinical freedom to provide the very best care and treatment plans tailored to each individual patient & client. The position would involve working in a friendly, happy environment with 8 vets, 11 nurses and a great support team. The practice covers their OWN OOHs. They are not an emergency clinic and they have a nurse on-site to care for inpatients & help the vet. The on-call is not 'awake' all night & can be at home if local or they have accommodation on site. The vet can sleep & take emergency phone calls, only seeing clients in an emergency. The vets say that their night duties are quiet, they are rarely called out. The weekend days are however busy. The practice has modern, up-to-date facilities including an endoscope, laser, digital X-ray, brand new Idexx catalyst and procyte in-house lab, baer hugger and other toys. Nurses also do their own clinics including, weight control, parasitic advice, laser theory, diabetic advice, nail clips, etc. the practice also offers a visiting service with 1 vet and 1 nurse one day per week.
This is a permanent full-time small animal veterinary surgeon position working Mon- Fri 8.00- 19.00 on a varied shift pattern. The on-call rota is currently 1 in 6 with, one day off a week.
The weekend rota is 1:6 full weekend including on-call – Sat surgery 9.00-12 noon & emergency OOHs appointments between 14.00 – 15.00 hours - emergencies only are seen on Sunday.
In return, our client is offering a good salary that is commensurate with experience plus a share of the OOH fees. The benefits include 5 weeks holiday per year plus Bank Holidays (or a day in lieu), CPD is encouraged & funded with specialisation welcomed.
The ideal candidate will be passionate about veterinary care, keen to grow and possibly take a certificate plus will have good communication skills including a good standard of verbal and written English. The successful candidate will have a proven track record gained working in practice although our client would also consider a recent graduate who is keen to develop. Forward-thinking, flexible, compassionate and understanding for the owners and their pets plus a good team player would all be considered prerequisites for this post as the practice will be able to provide ongoing progression prospects.
