We are currently recruiting on behalf of a large, independent veterinary group who is looking for an experienced, Small Animal Veterinary Surgeon to join their team.
This is a full-time permanent role where client-facing skills are integral as this is a 1st opinion Vet position, so you will really enjoy direct contact with the animal’s people. This role will incorporate working in hospital practice and branch work, so you will see a broad range of cases.
Our client is well regarded first opinion small animal veterinary practice that is one of the largest providers of veterinary care locally while maintaining the personal touch. They have 12 practices currently and have recently opened 3 new practices. Their principle site is where they provide first opinion treatments plus referral services for their own clients and other practices. Additionally, they have their own dedicated night teams. The facilities at all sites are contemporary and have a culture of discovery to ensure they stay ahead of the latest findings and recommendations.
Many of their dedicated vets and nurses have further postgraduate qualifications in their area of interest. Their small animal hospital based in Derby is a purpose-built hospital with state of the art facilities. Their amenities include spacious and comfortable wards, isolation wards and an intensive care unit. As well as 5 operating theatres, imaging suite including ultrasound, CT scanner, MRI scanner, and radiography. They are also able to offer a range of specialists and specialist equipment for ophthalmology, dermatology, dentistry, cardiology, and surgery with full rehabilitation and hydrotherapy facilities.
The Role and Candidate:
This Small Animal Vet role will include a mix of branch work and working in the hospital practice, so it will involve the usual routine procedures from 1st opinion pet care and maintenance but there will also be frequent situations where the route to the prognosis could be an interesting journey.
There will be some sole charge work for this role, so you will need to be confident in making decisions and taking responsibility for treatments. Client facing skills are integral for this 1st opinion Vet position, so you must really enjoy direct contact with the animal’s people. They have a regular returning customer base so naturally having the skills to build long term relationships is an asset.
The position is full-time and will include approx 1:6 weekends and no OOH.
