We are working with a well-established veterinary practice in the Cranbrook area of Kent, that is looking for an Equine Veterinary Surgeon to join them on a full-time permanent basis. The practice is looking for a candidate with post-graduate experience in equine practice.

The Practice:

Our client is a friendly progressive team of Vets, Nursing Assistants and Support Team in the Cranbrook area of Kent. Their clientele is diverse and ranges from internationals eventers, jumpers, dressage, reining to happy hackers. The ability to relate to a wide range of clients is a key skill that the successful applicant will need.

The practice has a good range of portable diagnostic equipment including DR, ultrasound, respiratory and gastroscopes, shockwave & motorised dentistry. With a seasonal variety of work with some AI/stud work (visiting specialists provide back up as needed).

The Role:

This is a full-time position with working hours of 08:30-18:30. The out of hours duties are 1 night a week (unless you have worked the weekends) and a shared weekend rota of 1 in 5. Your daily duties will include:

Consultations: - You will assume the responsibility for surgical and medical cases (all cases must be written up in full on a daily basis). You will complete the required full up reports and ensure that these are filed correctly. You will be responsible for the appropriate pricing and keeping the client informed of these costs. You are responsible for the safety of clients and team members during treatment.

Visits: - You will be expected to undertake visits.

Surgical Operations: - Assisting with and performing routine surgery.

Investigative Procedures: - You will be responsible for the continued communication with the client when results are returned and agree on the way forward/costs.

Care of hospitalised patients: - You will be involved in the examination and assessment of in-patients (at least twice a day), keep the records up to date and all on-call arrangements are in place.

On-Call Duties: - When covering the on-call rota you will ensure that you are available for the relief and aiding of suffering animals.

The Candidate:

You will be a qualified RCVS Registered Equine Veterinary Surgeon with post-graduate experience in equine practice. You will have good surgical skills with good verbal and written communication ability. You will be able to work under pressure and be able to manage your own time effectively with a focus on customer care.

Your professional approach to veterinary care and clinical practice would be calm and unflappable while being highly organised team player that can work under your own initiative.

In return, our client is offering an excellent package that would be commensurate with experience. CPD is encouraged with several current and former vets either holding or enrolled on certificates.
