We are currently recruiting on behalf of a veterinary practice situated in Penrith which is a lovely part of Central Cumbria. The practice requires a predominantly large animal veterinary surgeon with a minimum of 1 years' experience to join their team on a permanent basis.

Our client has been established for over 100 years and their team has a wealth of experience in the profession. They offer exceptional veterinary care at competitive prices and are a Tier 2 accredited practice through the RCVS for your peace of mind. They offer 24-hour emergency service, full farm consultancy. They are a mixed veterinary practice based in a beautiful part of the Lake District and are offering fantastic career prospects for a full time, permanent mixed vet (predominantly LA). They are a forward-thinking practice that really values work-life balance and work with a genuine mix of dairy, beef, and sheep.

The Role:

You will be joining a team of 7 vets, this position is to work full-time, in a 90% farm animal: 10% small animal mix. Most of the daily work is dairy, but there’s a good spread of beef and sheep too. The role is to work alongside 1 small animal Vet and 5 large animal Vets. There is some on-call commitment as expected with Large Animal work.

The working hours are Monday - Friday, 4 days per week, 8.00-18.00. During the week you would be 1st on-call one night per week, and 2nd on-call one night per week. 

The weekend rota is 2:5 Saturdays 8.30-13.00 with a shared on-call with one other Vet.

In return, our clients are offering a competitive salary dependent on experience + 7 weeks holiday + £1000 CPD.

The Candidate:

The ideal candidate will have experience doing calvings/ lambings, caesareans and cattle fertility work; ideally, you will have experience of DA ops and other routine procedures such as digit amputations. You will be friendly, confident, smartly presented and enjoy working with people, with an interest in herd and flock health. You will also have the capability to deal with a small animal on call.
