We are working with professional and caring small animal practice in Dunstable, Bedfordshire that is looking for an experienced and confident Veterinary Surgeon to join them on a full-time permanent basis. They are looking for a vet with a wide range of surgical and medical experience that will be comfortable in a sole charge role.

The Practice:

This is an independent small animal practice that is well-established and respected in the Dunstable area.

This Veterinary Clinic is a professional, friendly, well equipped, small animal veterinary practice where compassion, patient care and doing the right thing always comes first. They have an experienced veterinary team and practice to a gold standard in terms of treatment and care. The vets regularly attend courses so they are clinically and surgically up to date in new treatment options.

They always involve clients fully in making treatment plans and always have the best interests of the patients and clients at the heart of everything they do, including offering referral to a specialist if they feel that is the best thing for the pet.

They pride themselves on acting with integrity and openness at all times and will always honestly tell clients what they feel is clinically best for their patients. They will provide an estimate for the costs of any treatment or investigations necessary so that clients are always aware of likely costs. Because they are a single site, an independent practice where case continuity is very much at the heart of what they try to do, they are able to form genuine bonds with patients and clients and really get to know them.

The Role:

This is a full-time permanent position where you will be working 5 days a week and every other Saturday morning. The weekday hours are 09:00-19:00 Monday to Friday with a 1-hour lunch break and your day will involve a mix of surgical/operating and consulting. Although this is a busy clinic you won't be flat out busy all day. The consults are 09:00-12:30, 14:00-15:00 and 15:30-18:30. If you are operating then you will do so in the morning and then have afternoon/evening consults.

Saturday hours are 09:00-13:00 consultations only. Vets Now cover out of hours from 19:00 weekday and from midday on Saturday.

The Candidate:

Our client is looking for an experienced and confident Veterinary Surgeon that is comfortable in a sole charge role. You will need a wide range of surgical experience and the ability to write up notes fully/comprehensively and to liaise with your clients/report lab results/book in for follow up appointments with themselves – see a case through to the end! The existing vet will be unavailable to mentor and wouldn't be able to have cases referred to them, hence you would need to be a confident vet.

You will need your own VDS cover and also be comfortable to complete dentals without x-raying.
