We are working with an independent, first opinion small animal practice in Portsmouth that is looking for an experienced Veterinary Surgeon to join them on a permanent basis. They are looking for a vet that is experienced and confident that would be comfortable supporting a newly graduated vet as part of their role.

The Practice:

Established in the '90s this practice aim is to provide an excellent standard of care in a relaxed and friendly environment. Being independently owned enables them to tailor individual client treatments for their patients. They have a wide range of diagnostic equipment allowing them to examine and diagnose conditions as quickly as possible.

They are an appointment-only practice with consultations between 09:15-10:30 and 15:45-18:15 Monday-Friday and 09:15-10:30 Saturdays. They try to accommodate all their client requirements to allow them same-day appointments for when pets need urgent attention. They have nurse clinics Monday-Friday 1200-13:00 which include claw clips, anal gland expression, flea checks, and weight clinics. The surgery facilities include a dedicated on-site surgical theatre, with a dental machine that has ultrasonic de-scaler. Their diagnostic equipment includes a digital x-ray processor, ultrasound and in-house laboratory.

The Role:

Our client is looking for a small animal Veterinary Surgeon to join them two days a week 08:30-19:00 with 1 in 3 Saturday mornings. There are no out of hour requirements for this role giving you a great work/life balance. The two days a week are not set in stone and the practice would be flexible on the days for the right candidate.

Your daily duties will include morning and afternoon consults, with operations in between. You will also be supporting a newly graduated vet so you must be comfortable in this kind of role and with sole charge being part of your day to day requirements.

The Candidate:

The ideal candidate will have post-graduate experience and thrive in a busy environment as this practice is a large part of the local community. They have some really busy and stressful days but they also have some that are less so which gives a good balance of caseloads. You will be joining a friendly and approachable team that all get involved in the workload and support each other.

There is no pressure on sales or clients allowing you to concentrate on being the best veterinary professional you can be. This is an expanding practice so there are lots of opportunities for you to grow alongside them.
