We have an excellent opportunity for a small animal Veterinary Surgeon to join an established practice in Chesterfield, Derbyshire, on a permanent basis. This is a Nurse Training Practice and is ICC Silver Standard Cat Friendly.

The Practice:

This friendly, independent practice has been serving clients and pets in the local area since the 1970s and they pride themselves on having a supportive and collaborative family atmosphere. The facilities they offer include:

  • Modern theatres with multi parameter monitoring plus a dedicated preparation and dental procedure room
  • An ultrasound machine
  • Digital X-ray
  • Blood pressure measurement equipment
  • An extensive laboratory
  • K-laser
  • Dedicated dog and cat wards

They have a large friendly team of 5 vets supported by 6 RVNs, 4 SVNs, 2 part-time nurses and 5 reception staff who work well together to provide the best possible service to customers. They are well situated within easy and quick access to the M1 and the Peak District, with the cities of Sheffield, Derby and Nottingham being within 30-40 minutes driving and Manchester an 80 minute drive.

The Role:

This is a permanent role for a Veterinary Surgeon with a superb normal hours rota giving time off during the day, some days due to split shifting as well as a half day off per week. There will be a 1 in 5 rota to provide telephone back-up and rare visits to the clinic to assist the night nurse with critical patients. However, in July, emergency care will be outsourced to an external provider. In return, the practice can offer a competitive salary which is reflective of your skills and experience, plus benefits that include:

  • Funded CPD
  • RCVS and VDS fees paid
  • 25 days holiday plus bank holidays (if Bank Holiday worked then day off given in lieu)
  • Certificates are supported

The Candidate:

This practice would welcome applications from Vets with all levels of experience, although some experience is preferred. The ideal candidate will be competent in all first opinion work, have strong communication skills and be a good team player.
