We are currently recruiting on behalf of a long-established mixed practice based in Newton Abbott, Devon for a Registered Veterinary Nurse to join their busy team. This is a permanent full-time position working for 30 - 40 hours per week on rota basis. Part-time applicants will be considered too.

The Practice:

Our client is a long-established modern veterinary practice based at two branches in Newton Abbot and Torquay. This is a friendly mixed practice with fully qualified vets, nurses will give the right veterinary care to all types animals from small, equine and farm/large. Both practices are modern,well equipped and offer a wide range of services; vet and nurse consulting rooms, separate operating theatres, endoscopy, dental x-ray, in-house laboratories for routine blood tests, ultrasound, digital x-ray, laser therapy, isolation kennels and more.

The Role:

Our client is offering a full-time/part-time position working 30 - 40 hours per week on a rota basis, including 2 in 4 Saturday mornings. You will be working across 2 of their branches but predominately the small animal practice. On-call is shared with 2 local practices and equates to 1 week in 6 shared between the team.

General duties to include:

  • Assisting vets as requested
  • Nurse clinics
  • Theatre nursing, preparation of patients for surgery, anaesthetic monitoring, and assessing the patient pre and post- surgery
  • Taking blood samples and placing intravenous catheters
  • Laboratory tasks such as blood analysis and other diagnostics
  • Administering medications
  • Providing advice to clients
  • Handling and restraint of all species
  • Dispense of medicines as appropriate
  • Reception duties
