We are working with a small animal practice in the city of Manchester that is looking to recruit a permanent Veterinary surgeon on a full-time permanent basis.

The Practice:

The bright, spacious, air-conditioned surgery has been purpose-built to industry-leading standards with state of the art equipment including digital X-ray and in-house laboratory facilities.

Our client is a long-established family practice that values their place in the local community, helping thousands of owners care for their pets every year.

They know as well as anyone that pet owners consider their pet to be a member of the family. That is why the whole team here at the practice works hard to provide the very best veterinary care.

As well as providing routine and preventative care and advice, they are there for you when there is a problem. Their vets and nurses are able to provide a wide range of surgical and medical services for dogs, cats, and rabbits. As they have vets with a specialist interest in exotics they can also provide treatment for a variety of less common species, such as reptiles, birds, rodents, and ferrets.

The Role and Candidate:

This is a full-time permanent position, with the exact hours to be confirmed at the interview but will involve a weekend rota of 1 in 2 Saturday mornings.

The right candidate should be well motivated and looking to learn, RCVS registered, capable of first opinion consultations and surgical procedures, able to work cases to a high standard, a good communicator and able to build a great rapport with clients and staff. They are willing to consider applications from confident new graduates and experienced vets.

They do see and treat exotics at their surgery (parrots, chickens, snakes, bearded dragons, etc) and whilst knowledge of these species is not necessarily of great importance as they will send successful candidates away for CPD once they have their bearings with them, an interesting in learning about them would be greatly beneficial.

The Remuneration Package:

In return, our client is offering an excellent package that includes:

  • Competitive salary dependant on experience
  • NO OOH
  • 1:2 Saturday mornings
  • Funded CPD
  • Company pension scheme
  • 6 weeks paid holiday
  • Plenty of tea and cake whilst discussing cases
  • Fantastic and friendly working environment
