We are working with a mixed animal veterinary practice in Kilmarnock, East Ayrshire that is looking for a Large Animal Veterinary Surgeon to join them on a full-time permanent basis. Our client has a good mix of dairy (100+) and beef (200+) clients, generally family farms.

The Practice:

Their team of dedicated farm vets cover the whole of Ayrshire and beyond, providing 24-hour care and advice for both routine and emergency cases. Out of hours, there are always two dedicated farm vets on call.

All farm species are treated, including dairy and beef cattle, sheep, goats, poultry, pigs and large exotics such as alpacas.

They focus strongly on fertility management and preventative medicine to improve the health and welfare of livestock and maximise farm profitability. Working with their clients they can assess the impact of health problems or poor fertility, and assist with health planning to ensure optimal productivity and animal welfare. 

The specialist services offered include:- Easi-scan3, Dairymate and TotalVet dairy software, bovine laparoscopy, bull and tup breeding soundness, embryo transfer, WOPA mobile hydraulic foot crush, in-house laboratory, RCVS Specialist and Advanced Practitioner in cattle health. There are a new farm and equine facility at the planning stage.

The Role and Candidate: 

This is a full-time permanent role that will include two in seven farm only out-of-hours rota, the full rota will be discussed at the interview.

Our client is looking for a vet that has excellent, friendly client care and communication skills are a priority. They are looking for an enthusiastic like-minded colleague with a commitment to the very highest standard of farm veterinary practice and client management to join this friendly and supportive team of six farm vets. Four yearly TB testing area.

Clinical interests are encouraged, with generous funding for annual CPD, RCVS, VDS, BVA and one other professional membership, with additional non-clinical benefits package. Study towards relevant CertAVP encouraged.
