We are working with a long-established small animal veterinary practice in Alexandria, West Dunbartonshire that is looking for a Veterinary Surgeon to join them on a full-time permanent basis. This role would suit an experienced vet, with orthopaedic surgical skills would be an advantage

The Practice:

Located in the beautiful Loch Lomond and Trossachs National Park, based in Alexandria this practice has been established over 50 years. They have a strong team of Vets, nurses and support staff, that are supportive and friendly to their excellent, loyal clients. The practice has the latest equipment including x-ray, ultrasound, dental, endoscopy, and laser in a modern building recently refurbished that includes a separate staff room for breaks.

The Role: 

In this role, you will see a varied workload including at least one ops day per week. The position is full-time, working a 4-day week with a weekend rota of 1 in 4 Saturday mornings covering 8.30 to 12.30.

The practice operates on 15-minute consults, giving you plenty of time with each patient.

The duties for the role will include a mix of consults, admin time during the day and set operating days, with the ability to refer cases where necessary. There will be a requirement to go on house visits when required. Looking to promote community vetting initiatives, by offering more services to clients in their homes. Increase the type of services and procedures to clients to keep as much work as possible in the practice.

The Candidate:

Our client is looking for an experienced vet, and orthopaedic surgical skills would be an advantage. You will be a good team player, with strong customer-facing skills. You will be a vet that has the following capabilities:

  • Empathetic towards clients, their pets as well as work colleagues.
  • Financial awareness to assist in building the business.
  • Ability to support more junior staff in their development.
  • Applicants must be able to drive and although a company car is available for visits, you must have your own transport due to location.
  • Opportunities to suggest and promote new initiatives and different services to increase variety for clients and new income streams.
