Due to growth, our client is looking for a small animal veterinary surgeon to join them on a permanent basis on either a full or part-time basis. They are looking for a vet with some clinical experience in practice that has a clean driving licence.
The Practice:
Our client is currently an RCVS accredited, two vets small animal practice in Colchester that is located within easy access to London and the beautiful Essex coastline, just a stone's throw from Mersea Island in fact!
They have digital x-rays, endoscopy, ultrasound, and all the usual toys. They are a small, kind, friendly team, with qualified veterinary nurses, animal care assistants, and their own veterinary physiotherapist. The Clinical Directors hold certificates in medicine and surgery, and they also have access to a mobile specialist cardiologist, ultrasonographer and orthopaedic surgeon allowing you to manage cases predominantly in-house.
However, they are also located within a reasonable distance from many excellent referral centres and have access to CT and MRI scanners locally. They have a varied caseload including treating exotics and an interest in behavioural medicine. This has led to their fear-free approach to patients in practice and would want their new colleagues to become familiar with this regime. They can provide tea, cake, and lots of fun if you join their quirky team! The practice ethos is to be kind, caring, and compassionate to patients, clients, and colleagues.
The Role:
Our client requires a vet to work 3 - 4 days a week including at least 1 in 3 Saturday mornings and occasional care of inpatients at evenings and weekends but no emergency out of hours.
The practice opening hours are 08:15 - 18:30 Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Fridays and open until 19:00 Mondays and Thursdays. Whilst there will be a requirement to work full days initially, they are hoping with the right candidate to introduce shift patterns to improve the work-life balance.
They would ideally like to fill this position as soon as possible due to the growth of the practice. The candidate needs to be comfortable working sole charge as this is often a requirement of the job and therefore they need to be competent in medicine and surgery.
The Candidate:
Our client is looking for a veterinary surgeon with some clinical experience working in a small animal practice. You must also have an Official Veterinarian qualification and a clean, UK driving licence. A certificate holder would certainly be considered but not essential. The position will mainly involve consulting, working up cases both medically and surgically and routine operations. But also assisting where necessary to support other members of the team in their job roles too.
