We are working with a lovely large animal / equine practice in Derby, Derbyshire that is looking for an experienced Equine Veterinary Surgeon to join them on a full-time permanent basis. this role is primarily an ambulatory and you will full driving licence and own vehicle.
Our clients' practice offers high-level equine and farm veterinary services to the local community. They have experienced and dedicated teams and access to excellent facilities. These include sixteen stables with boxes for critical care patients, foaling boxes and an operating theatre. They are a Clinical Associate Practice of the University of Nottingham.
Their friendly team of seven equine vets have varying experience, from recent graduates to certificate holders, with different individual interests including but not limited to lameness, medicine, dentistry, and reproduction. There are regular case discussions and individual development is supported and encouraged. They also have regular assistance from Nottingham Vet School staff and from visiting specialists. The equine veterinary team is supported by excellent equine nursing and reception teams.
This role is a permanent position and is primarily an ambulatory role. They have hospitalisation and operating facilities available in the Equine Clinic with the usual range of toys, enabling the provision of an outstanding level of client care and dealing with a varied equine caseload. There is the opportunity to follow cases through with support from the team when required. They have friendly clients who are primarily sports and leisure horse owners.
The role is full-time where you will be working Monday to Friday 0830 to 1800 and night and weekend rota approx. 1:5.
Due to our clients' relationship with Nottingham University, they have enthusiastic equine students and you may be asked to be involved with student teaching.
Our client is looking for an Equine Veterinary Surgeon with at least two years of equine experience, although enthusiastic recent graduates would be considered. You must be RCVS qualified, have a full driving licence and access to your own vehicle. Experience in an equine ambulatory is required and a good working knowledge of core procedures.
An interest in equine dentistry would be great, plus student teaching experience would be beneficial.
