We are working with a lovely large animal / equine practice in Derby, Derbyshire that is looking for an experienced Large Animal Veterinary Surgeon to join them on a full-time permanent basis. This role will cover Farm work and TB Tester duties.
Our clients' practice offers high-level equine and farm veterinary services to the local community. They have a fantastic mix of experienced vets and more recent graduates. The team is well qualified (including 1 DBRs, 3 CertAVPs and 2 residents working towards their ECBHM) and they encourage and support further study for all team members. They provide the freedom to independently work up cases and are also lucky to have regular support from the cattle health and production team at the University of Nottingham. They are a teaching practice for final year vet students and evidence-based medicine and herd health is central to what we do.
This is a full-time permanent role, where you will be working Monday-Friday 08:30-18:00 with an out of hours rota and weekends of 1 in 5 (farm only).
This role would suit an inquisitive and proactive farm animal Vet who enjoys an environment of continual learning and sharing that knowledge. A desire to inspire the future generation of vets would be useful as one on one teaching will form part of the role. Your line manager will actively support your development and career progression.
This role requires a motivated and conscientious person with good communication skills. Alongside our TB administrator, you will be expected to self-manage your diary against pre-booked appointments and geographical requirements; you will also need to be flexible with your working day. Our client is looking for a Veterinary Surgeon knowledge and practical experience of a farm animal caseload plus excellent client communication skills. You will be an RCVS member with a clean current driving licence.
You will have an OV TB (for the TB role) qualification with excellent organisational and communication skills (verbal and written). You must be a team=player that is able to liaise and work alongside all levels of staff.
