We are currently recruiting on behalf of a large, independent veterinary group based in Derby, Derbyshire who is looking for a Registered Veterinary Nurse to join their team. This is a part-time permanent role where you will be working weekends with a variety of cases.
Our client is well regarded first opinion small animal veterinary practice that is one of the largest providers of veterinary care locally while maintaining the personal touch. They have 12 practices currently and have recently opened 3 new practices. Their principle site is where they provide first opinion treatments plus referral services for their own clients and other practices. Additionally, they have their own dedicated night teams. The facilities at all sites are contemporary and have a culture of discovery to ensure they stay ahead of the latest findings and recommendations.
Many of their dedicated vets and nurses have further postgraduate qualifications in their area of interest. Their small animal hospital based in Derby is a purpose-built hospital with state of the art facilities. Their amenities include spacious and comfortable wards, isolation wards and an intensive care unit. As well as 5 operating theatres, imaging suite including ultrasound, CT scanner, MRI scanner, and radiography. They are also able to offer a range of specialists and specialist equipment for ophthalmology, dermatology, dentistry, cardiology, and surgery with full rehabilitation and hydrotherapy facilities.
The Role and Candidate:
This is a permanent part-time weekend Registered Veterinary Nurse role that involves varied duties whilst providing high standards of nursing care to patients.
Caring for each patient individually in your allocated ward, which will include administering medications, fluid therapy, placing catheters, managing urinary catheters, feeding tubes and wound drains. When working on procedures it will involve assisting the vet, monitoring anaesthetics, taking x-rays and helping to coordinate the days.
The team support each other throughout the day to nurse the patients to the highest standards. You will be working with a team of 6 nurses providing nursing care for inpatients both in first opinion and referral wards. Assisting with first opinion procedures, as well as coordinating the running of the day alongside the vet. The weekend working pattern is to be confirmed, including hours and potential out of hours.
For this role, you must be a registered RVN who would describe themselves as professional, confident, eager to learn new skills, with good communication skills. You must also be caring with a passion for providing excellent nursing care. It is recommended you have experience with inpatient care, and working in a busy hospital.
