We’re looking for a very special individual dedicated to delivering the personalised service we offer our clients.
We are an independent 50% equine and 50% small animal practice set in a beautiful rural location on the Hampshire/Berkshire border. We are a tight knit, highly engaged team of four vets, three nurses and a receptionist dedicated to having fun providing an exceptionally high quality service treating our clients as valued friends and their animals as if they were our own. We are a very supportive team and take great care of each other. We work 8.30am until 6pm Monday to Friday with no weekend surgeries. Our vets work a four and a half day week finishing at 1pm on one of the weekdays. We are dedicated to providing our clients with our own out of hours service on a 1 in 4 rota. Our vets get 25 days holiday a year, VDS, RCVS and BSAVA or BEVA paid for, BUPA Healthcare, Pension and salary according to experience.
Our main surgery has operating and hospitalisation facilities for both small animals and horses and we are fully equipped with an IDEXX practice lab and digital diagnostic equipment. We run 15 minute consultations by appointment only and pride ourselves in taking time over our cases and with our clients. Our clientele are predominantly insured and we do the work for the local Dogs Trust kennels so there is a considerable amount of routine surgery. We are a Royal Veterinary College training practice and have two final year students with us for much of the year. The vacancy would suit an individual with interests in education and diagnostic imaging.
Newbury in West Berkshire is located in an area of Outstanding Natural Beauty of chalk downland with great walking and cycling. It is within an hour of London, the South Coast and several international airports.
We are looking for
A dedicated, experienced, small animal vet who is interested in providing a high quality, first opinion service as part of a lovely team. This candidate would join our dedicated small animal vet, Phill, in providing the small animal service and would not be expected to see horses at any time.
A mixed small animal and equine vet with some post-graduation experience to do predominantly small animal work but back up Chris & Lorna with the equine work.
Would we consider a new-graduate? – No. As some sole consulting is involved in the role it will not suit a new graduate.
Would we consider no out of hours? – No. Nobody relishes being on call but our out of hours work is very quiet and we are dedicated to providing our clients with a personalised out of hours service.
