Permanent Veterinary Surgeon, Basingstoke
We are working with a lovely small animal hospital practice in Basingstoke, Hampshire that is looking to recruit an experienced Veterinary Surgeon on a full-time permanent basis.

From their purpose-built hospital, they utilise the state of the art equipment and have unrivaled facilities to make pets feel relaxed and comfortable at all times.
They have a wide range of state-of-the-art equipment consisting of digital X-ray, dental X-ray, ultrasound (including cardiac probe), endoscopy/bronchoscopy, in-house idexx haematology and catalyst, EPOC for blood gas analysis.
Their out-of-hours are provided by local Vets Now clinics, they have facilities for hospitalisation and overnight care of inpatients and generally have between 4-7 per night. A nurse is in the building overnight caring for inpatients and vets share the overnight duties equally. The overnight duties are generally for telephone support for the duty nurse and it is very rare that they are called into the practice overnight.
The Role and Candidate:
This is a full-time permanent role where the hours will be 48 over a 4 day week with a 1.5/6 weekend rota. The shifts consist of either 8 am-5.30 pm or 10 am-8 pm which are distributed evenly amongst the vets. The subsequent week following a weekend is a 3 day week. Weekend hours are 8 am-5 pm on Saturday and 10 am-5 pm Sunday with phones to vets now outside of these hours, and responsibility for in patients only outside of those times.
Due to continued growth, they are looking for a Veterinary Surgeon to join their friendly team. They are looking for 5+ years qualified Vet, ideally with (or studying towards) a certificate. They have a strong surgical team currently and would potentially benefit from a medical bias candidate, but this isn’t essential.
The Salary and Benefits:
In return for all your dedication and hard work our client is offering a competitive package that includes:
- Salary of up to £55,000 p/a (DOE) plus very generous benefits scheme
- 25 days holiday with an extra day off for your birthday (Bank holidays are covered equally within the team with time off in lieu)
- CPD budget of £1500 (flexible if there is a clear benefit to additional training)
