  • Client:

We are working with a new small animal hospital in West London that is looking to recruit a permanent full-time Veterinary Surgeon, who will assist with the expanding business over the coming years. This is a tremendous opportunity for a vet to get in at the ground floor of an expanding business and develop a hugely rewarding role, professionally and financially.

The practice is in a stunning, architect-designed and comprehensively equipped hospital-style facility that seeks a confident surgeon, preferably a certificate holder (SAS), to join the owner (RCVS AVP SAS) in continuing to push this young practice forward.

The Practice:

The practice owner has RCVS Advanced in SA Surgery, to perform abdominal and cardiac ultrasounds. The clinic is beautiful to be in, has a great team, and is phenomenally well equipped. They have been open only a few months and have passed their 14-month projections.

They run their own out of hours and this will be a 1:2, ie one week on and one week off, rota. This will change to 1:3, 1:4, etc as the team grows, eventually, they will have a dedicated night team. They receive a call every 3 nights and need to attend the clinic approximately once every other week on call. They have only had one life or death emergency in 3 months, so it is not onerous. They want a prospective candidate who understands that on-call time is a) a small price to pay for the prospective opportunity to buy into the newest and most ambitious start-up in London b) justified because it means that they hospitalise their own cases & receive interesting and intellectually rewarding work, c) a great service for the local community.

Facilities include:

Two dedicated theatres, dog and cat wards, three consults, large central patient hub. Rigid endoscopy, bronchoscope, gastroscope, digital display. Anaesthetic patient monitors incl two capnographs. Extensive surgical instrumentation incl AO kits, Hall drill, electrosurgery, and vessel sealing. DR digital radiography. Two ultrasound units. Comprehensive in house lab diagnostics.

The Role and Candidate:

Our client is looking for a Veterinary Surgeon who is surgically competent, preferably having done a cert, someone intellectually sharp, and absolutely fluent in communication with clients. You will be someone who wants to lay down roots, pursue equity, and develop their work within our, and eventually also their, practice. The potential financial and emotional rewards of practice ownership have never been greater. The practice is currently fully booked and want an energetic, enthusiastic, knowledgeable, gregarious, and polished veterinary colleague to join the team, to share the work-load, and develop the client and patient base further.

This is a full-time permanent role which will include out of hours and weekends on a rota basis. The opening hours are currently Monday-Friday 08:30-18:00 & Saturdays 09:00-13:30 with Sundays being emergencies only.

The ideal candidate will be capable of a wide variety of surgeries but still enjoys all types of clinical work, confident in diagnostics, medical case management, and patient care: someone who has already developed a reputation in prior clinics for reliability, expertise and good outcomes.

The Package:

In return for your hard work, our client offers future career progression to equity and ownership. The package on offer is very competitive and includes:

  • Competitive Salary - reflective of skills and experience
  • Relocation allowance
  • Vehicle provided or allowance
  • 25 days holiday
  • 5 days CPD allowance
  • 24h online GP service
  • Free coffees, cinema tickets, and store discounts
  • RCVS and VDS membership paid
  • Pension
