We are currently working with a lovely established independently owned practice with an excellent client base situated close to the sandy beaches and large natural harbour of Poole in Dorset. The practice is looking to recruit a Lead small animal Veterinary Surgeon to join their friendly, client-focused team.

The Practice:

This is a delightful clinic which consists of a main practice and sister branch close by. They have a team of 4 vets, 3 RVNs, 3 SVNs, and a support team who have a wealth of experience and knowledge. They pride themselves in getting to know their clients and their pets and have state of the art veterinary equipment including a scanner, digital x-ray, comprehensive lab, modern separate dog, and cat wards.

Their clinical standards are excellent in all aspects of first opinion practice and the client base is well bonded and invested in the care of their animals. As an established First Opinion practice, there is an opportunity in all aspects of the practice, balancing consulting and surgery to use and develop your own skills with total clinical freedom.

The Role and Candidate:

This is a full-time permanent Lead Veterinary Surgeon post, working either a 4 or 5 day week. The days are shifted between 9.00 - 17.00 or 10.30- 19.00 Monday to Friday. The weekends are on a rota of 1:4 or 1:3 Saturday mornings 9.00-13.00. There is some sole charge required for this role so you must be comfortable with this. There are no out of hour requirements for this role, supporting a good work/life balance. They have an amazing team that is friendly and supportive from the receptionists to the RVN’s to the vets. They have regular Vets meetings to discuss cases, the business, and to support each other. Ideas and contribution towards the growth of the practice across both branches are supported and encouraged

The successful candidate will be an enthusiastic small animal veterinary surgeon who is a good GP and who has really good people skills with the ability to relate, listen and show compassion to their clients and staff alike. A candidate who is willing to learn and grow and who is happy to contribute to the team ethos and ideas for the overall improvement of the practice. Encouragement will be provided for the veterinary surgeon looking to take a certificate. This is a lovely opportunity for a Lead Veterinary Surgeon looking to integrate and become part of an active caring and dedicated veterinary team.

The Package:

The practice is offering an excellent package that includes:

  • A generous salary that is reflective of knowledge, skills, and experience
  • CPD
  • Holiday entitlement that is reflective of hours worked

Our client can provide accommodation initially for those looking to relocate as they have a self-contained flat on-site with a bedroom, bathroom, living room and kitchen + TV & Wi-Fi
