We are working with a client with a practice based in Farnborough, Hampshire, that is looking for a friendly and confident Lead Veterinary Surgeon to join their busy and successful practice.

The Practice:

As part of this 3-4 Vet practice, you will be joining a welcoming and experienced team of 3 RVN’s and supported by a dedicated team of SVN’s, VCA’s, and Receptionists. The practice believes strongly in investing in people, so would be keen to support the right candidate with professional development.

As a purpose-built small animal practice, the surgery is equipped with modern surgical and diagnostic equipment including digital X-ray, ultrasound, Idexx catalyst analyser, diathermy, lactate analyser, and Cardiopet ECG, amongst other equipment. The practice also recently invested in a refurbishment of their waiting area to improve their patient and client experience.

Farnborough is situated in northeast Hampshire near the boundary with Surrey. It is located 34 miles (55 km) southwest of London which is easily accessible by car or train and 16 miles (26 km) east of Basingstoke. Farnborough is served by three train stations giving access into London, and to the South including directly to Gatwick Airport for easy access to Europe and further afield. Being situated near to the South Downs National Park with its large rural areas and only an hour from the south coast makes this an ideal location for those wishing to combine urban convenience with rural and coastal access.

The Role and Candidate:

This is a very exciting opportunity for someone who is looking to take the next step in their career as a Lead Vet. Applicants will be confident with all routine surgical and medical cases and special interests will be welcomed and supported. A large element of the Lead Vet role will involve mentoring and supporting less experienced Vets, helping them to develop to their full potential. The practice offers clinical freedom and the opportunity to work with a varied and loyal client base, working up cases to a high standard. Due to the capabilities within the team and the age of the practice, their caseload is varied with no two days being the same. Their new Lead Vet will be confident with all routine surgical and medical cases and enjoy building relationships with patients, clients, and the team.

This is a Full-time role with a weekend rota of 1 in 3, which will be sole charge.

The Package:

In return for your hard work, the practice offers:

  • Competitive salary – up to £70,000 (depending on experience)
  • Generous CPD
  • Contributory pension scheme
  • Paid memberships (RCVS, VDS, and BVA)
  • Exclusive colleague rewards including discounts with High Street stores and restaurants
  • A friendly and supportive work environment
  • Free parking
