Key Responsibilities:
Clinical:
Lead the dermatology service, ensuring the highest standards of clinical care and providing expert advice to colleagues, external referring practices, and clients.
Drive the strategic direction and development of the dermatology service to maintain and expand clinical referrals, while ensuring teaching and research goals are met.
Offer expert consultation and leadership in small animal dermatology, both within the hospital and externally.
Participate in and lead the out-of-hours dermatology service, ensuring adequate coverage and expertise are available.
Research:
Conduct and lead internationally recognized research in small animal dermatology, contributing significantly to the School's and University’s research profile.
Foster interdisciplinary research collaborations within the University and with external organisations.
Secure external funding for research projects and supervise postgraduate research, promoting a vibrant academic community.
Teaching:
Lead the development and delivery of undergraduate and postgraduate teaching in dermatology, ensuring an innovative, research-led approach to education.
Mentor and supervise postgraduate students, helping them develop into future leaders in clinical and research fields.
Design and implement creative teaching methods to engage students and meet the School’s learning objectives.
Administration:
Actively participate in School and College committees, contributing to strategy development and implementation.
Lead in shaping the School's future direction in small animal dermatology, supporting its academic and clinical mission.
Qualifications and Experience:
Essential:
A veterinary degree registrable with the Royal College of Veterinary Surgeons (RCVS).
Postgraduate clinical qualifications in dermatology (e.g., RCVS Diploma, DipECVIM, DipACVIM).
Proven record of clinical excellence and leadership in veterinary dermatology.
An internationally recognised track record in dermatology research with publications in top-tier journals.
Extensive teaching experience, including curriculum development and postgraduate supervision.
Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to lead and collaborate effectively across different teams and departments.
Desirable:
A PhD in a relevant research area.
Experience in interdisciplinary collaboration and securing research funding.
Expertise in interventional dermatology and advanced imaging (e.g., CT, MRI).
