Head Veterinary Surgeon

We have an exciting opportunity for a sole charge, Head Veterinary Surgeon in a well-equipped community-based practice in North London. As the head vet, you will be responsible for the day to day running and performance of the practice. You will also lead the team with the help and support of vets from the other practices.

The Practice:
There are 30 practices across the region, which include four 24-hour emergency hospitals and a specialist referral centre. They employ a large staff, including specialists in Soft Tissue Surgery, Dermatology and Emergency and Critical Care, staff with certificates in feline practice, and residency trained consultants in anaesthesia and analgesia and internal medicine.

The Role:
You will be to essentially run your own branch as the Head Veterinary Surgeon. This is a full-time permanent role, working Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, Friday 9am-7pm; Wednesday, Saturday 9am-1pm. 

You will deliver a high level of clinical care to standards in conjunction with the RCVS Practice Standards Scheme, including holding consultations and diagnosing animals, performing surgery, administering anaesthesia, undertaking scans, prescribing and euthanises where necessary. The delivery of client satisfaction to an exceptional level as defined by the practice, including making all your interactions with clients fully focused on delivering value, exceptional service and warmth to the clients.  

The Candidate:
The ideal candidate will have strong small animal medical and surgical experience along with awareness of the operational aspects of the practice that affect the practice profitability.  You will have the confidence to lead the team and will have previous experience of working in a sole charge role. It would be beneficial to have understanding and experience of a Head Vet position, and previous experience of managing a team. 

The ideal candidate will be self-aware, have a positive attitude and will be receptive to change. They will have effective communication skills within the team and with the clients. They will possess the ability to work as a strong contributor to a team. 

Summary:

Experience Required: At least 2 years
Salary: Circa £60,000  (DOE)

To qualify for this position you must be fully registered with the RCVS and you must be eligible to work in the UK.
