We are currently recruiting on behalf of an independent mixed practice based in Country Durham. They are currently looking for an enthusiastic New Graduate Veterinary Surgeon to join their team on a full-time permanent basis. The role is mixed but mainly 92% small animal, with the rest split between farm and equine.

The Practice:
The practice is situated in a small market town just off the A1M in a lovely part of County Durham. Local shops are within easy walking distance for lunchtime shopping and even a swimming pool close enough for lunchtime dips. The practice was established in the 90s and moved into a brand new practice around 4 years ago. They have full facilities and equipment for small and large animals. With a team of 5 Vets, RVN’s and trainee nurses they pride themselves on treating patients as though they were their own pets and have an interesting caseload with only the most complex cases being referred (i.e. orthopaedics, colics). The team are happy, very friendly and often go out for lunch together when ops are quiet. They promote a great work-life balance and relaxed working atmosphere.

The Role:
This role is full-time, working 4 days per week with Fridays/Mondays off together to give a long weekend off approximately every 4-6 weeks. There is 1 night per week on-call with a bonus scheme (percentage of work done out of hours paid monthly in arrears) and a weekend rota of 1:5 Saturday/Sundays. The rota is sympathetically drawn to try and suit requests where possible. Bank holidays shared, with lieu days.

The position is mainly small animal, however willingness/experience to view equine/large animal on occasion as required (lameness, possible calvings, vaccinations etc.)

The Candidate:
This position would suit an enthusiastic new graduate surgeon looking to gain experience within a highly supportive team.

The practice has a highly experienced team with a wealth of experience in many different areas, including small animal, large animals, equine, exotic, reptiles, acupuncture and animal behaviourists. Own interests are greatly supported and further training and support are always available.

In return, the practice can offer a generous package worth from £31,000 plus, based on experience. This includes basic salary, car allowance, accommodation allowance etc. As well as CPD paid annual leave and OOH bonus.
