Permanent ECC Night Veterinary Surgeon - Gateshead

Role: Permanent ECC Night Veterinary Surgeon

Type: Small Animal

Location: Gateshead, Tyne and Wear

Practice: Small Animal

Team: 12 daytime Vets, 2 night-time Vets, 16 VN's, and 6 Nursing Assistants.

Facilities: The hospital is very well equipped, with dedicated and advanced surgical and medical facilities and equipment. They have a wealth of ECC essentials, including a comprehensively equipped laboratory, on-site and a very good working relationship with other local OOH providers, the Pet Blood Bank, and work with several local charities.

Hours: A night shift begins with a handover from the daytime hospital vet at 6 pm and ends with a handover the following day at 6.45 am. The rota is 7-nights on, 7-nights off

Duties: While the caseload is variable, a private bedroom and bathroom are provided for the ECC vet and this is very much a sleeping shift. The RVNs handle client calls, triage, and the majority of patient care through the night.

Sole Charge: Experience in sole-charge ECC work would be an asset.

Applicant Requirements: The ideal candidate will be an RCVS registered Veterinary Surgeon with at least 3 years of experience in small animal clinical work and be confident in dealing with emergency medical and surgical cases. They would also welcome applications from existing certificate-holders or those working towards an advanced qualification.

Salary: Up to £60,000 p/a (DOE)
