Permanent Emergency and Critical Care Veterinary Surgeon - Northumberland

Type: Small Animal Practice

Location: Northumberland

Practice: They are a large, small animal referral centre offering referrals in orthopaedics, soft tissue surgery, neurology, internal medicine, cardiology, ECC, and oncology. Their practice is ideally situated, within easy reach of the stunning Northumberland coastline and the cultural delights of Newcastle upon Tyne

Facilities: They offer great facilities at their state-of-the-art purpose-built hospital including a 1.5 Tesla MRI and Canon 160 Slice CT, Esaote MyLabX8 and Phillips IE33 ultrasound, ECG, fluoroscopy, flexible and rigid endoscopy, laparoscopy, arthroscopy, digital radiography, and in-house laboratory. 

Team: They have over 95 members within their centre; there are 21 vets, with the majority as certificate holders, along with internal medicine and neurology specialists and one resident. In addition, they have 25 RVNs, 3 Advanced Diploma holders, and over 12 students. Assisting that team are the ever-growing Animal care members.

Role: They are looking for a full-time or part-time Emergency and Critical Care Veterinary Surgeon to join them.

Duties:

  • The role includes consultations for emergency cases, admitting referral cases, managing critical patients, some medical workups, and basic urgent surgeries.
  • You will be working alongside an experienced referral team, offering services in orthopaedics, spinal surgery, soft tissue surgery, internal medicine, neurology, and cardiology.

Hours: 3-4 days per week with 1 in 4 weekends. No nights

Applicant Requirements:

  • They are looking for a candidate with post-graduate experience and a keen interest in Emergency and critical care.
  • A certificate holder would be advantageous but not essential.
