Permanent Farm Animal Veterinary Surgeon - Somerset

We are currently working with a proactive RCVS accredited farm animal only veterinary practice that has offices covering East Devon and Somerset. Our client is looking for a keen, driven farm animal veterinary surgeon to join their fantastic team working in one of the fastest-growing practices in the South West.

The Practice:

This practice is part of one of the UK's largest production animal veterinary groups which means they work with industry leaders, farm consultants, and laboratories. It has a modern approach to large animal veterinary care while still maintaining and priding itself on traditional service values. They have practices in Somerset and East Devon reaching out to the farming community in these areas. They have a dedicated team of 11 experienced farm vets with expertise in the dairy sector plus the added benefit of 1 RVN and a strong support team. Their improved competitive edge gained from being part of the group has meant it has gained increased purchasing power which has also helped to develop further opportunities and benefit both their staff and their clients.  Our client constantly tries to improve and extend their range of veterinary services.

These are some of the services they offer in addition to regular veterinary work provided by the practice:- Bull Breeding Soundness Exam, Competitive Pharmacies, Farmer Training, Interherd, Infectious Disease Monitor, Lameness Monitor, Mastitis Services, Nutrition Services, Performance Monitor Youngstock, Repeat Breeder Treatments.

The Role and Candidate:

This is a permanent full-time position working between the hours of 8.00 - 17.00 with an equally shared and attractive rota [currently 1:7 first on call].

This is a fabulous opportunity for a hardworking, ambitious individual because the practice is able to accommodate farm vets of varying experience whether you have a few years or more ‘under your belt’. You may be looking for that next step or wishing to work with a practice that can develop your strengths and interests and provide you with the freedom to work in a way that suits you best? Their aim is to have a settled team of vets and to that end progression and partnership are in everyone’s interest.

The Package:

Salary: Competitive salary - dependent on skills and experience + CPD

  • Monthly clinical clubs where they meet up to discuss best practices and relevant research.
  • Monthly Vet Meetings - usually they meet in the pub - Everyone’s input is sought and valued.
