We are currently working on behalf of a long-established family dairy in Stirling, Scotland, that is looking for a Farm Manager to join their team on a permanent basis. You must be an experienced and confident Farm Vet as you will be the sole vet onsite.

The Client:

Our client was established in the 1930s initially delivering milk to local shops and doorsteps, and in the ’90s began delivering to wholesale establishments, nationwide shops, hotels, and restaurants.

Our client offers a diverse range of products from Milk, butter, yogurt, ice cream, and quark.

The Role and Candidate:

Our client is looking for an enthusiastic and driven Farm Vet to work as a farm manager at their farm in Stirling. You would be the sole Vet on site.

Our client is happy to consider Vets with no prior management experience as there is support available. It is just a requirement that you are an experienced farm Vet, you are resilient and can deal well under pressure, and you have the drive and determination to want to learn the role.

The site currently houses 300 Jersey cows (soon to be 450) and the role would involve:

  • Quality management of the farm
  • Day to day practice
  • Land management
  • Management of staff (7 employees on-site with duties ranging from milking to looking after young stock and cleaning etc)
  • Managing fertility treatment of the herd
  • Managing the general health of the Cows
  • Managing welfare
  • Occasional caesarian

This is a full-time position, working 96 hours over a fortnight. Standard hours are between 7.00-17.00 and you would work 1:2 weekends.

Evening call outs are very rare but the role may involve the occasional caesarian.

Our client uses 100 farms to supply them with milk for their dairy ranges. All the farmers gather occasionally at a designated venue, and part of your role would be to present them with ways of developing standards within their farms and to educate them on the health and welfare of their herds.

The Package:

In return, our client is offering an excellent salary of up to £50,000 p/a + a large private farmhouse on-site with paid heating oil council tax and electric bills.
