Permanent Farm Veterinary Surgeon - Whetstone

We are currently working with a mixed animal practice in Whetstone, Leicestershire, that is looking for a Farm Veterinary Surgeon to join their practice on a full-time permanent basis. They are looking for an experienced farm clinician to further strengthen a great team of 6 farm vets in Leicestershire, and to replace a senior vet who is retiring.

The Practice:

The farm team continually invests in technology and expertise to provide the services their progressive clients demand. All pregnancy diagnosis and ovarian examinations are performed using ultrasound scanners.

A suite is used to provide detailed analysis and reporting to farmer clients on a regular basis. Every year they benchmark and provide awards for Best Fertility and Most improved fertility for their dairy clients. This allows farmers to learn from each other.

They have a well-equipped pharmacy with fully trained and experienced farm support team. Farmer education and training are very much part of what they do. The more they can keep their farmers up to date the more efficient their farms become.

The Myhealthyherd program now allows them to provide lab results accessible via the web to all their vets and farmer clients using a secure log-on. This greatly speeds up lab reporting and allows farmers to access all their lab results easily.

The Bull fertility management program is delivered using specialist semen evaluation equipment imported from the USA. Semen examination is performed using phase contrast micrography.

The Role and Candidate:

This is a full-time permanent role, where you will be working 4.5 days a week, with a 1 in 9 OOHs rota - with the option to do more paid. They are looking for a strong team player with a good sense of humour who enjoys the challenges of effective communication with colleagues and farmers. The ideal candidate would be familiar with farm software tools and be committed to their use for herd health work. Would suit a certificate holder or fully funded certificate is on offer.

The work will be primarily dairy-focused, and they have a large beef contingent too. Leadership training is very much encouraged and fully funded

  • Excellent salary with team performance-related pay
  • 1 in 9 OOH rota, with the option to do more paid
