Permanent Head Registered Veterinary Nurse - Slough

We have just received a new vacancy for a Head Registered Veterinary Nurse to join a practice in Slough, Berkshire, on a full-time, permanent basis.

The Practice:

This is a partnered branch and sole vet practice. The successful candidate will work closely with the BP to drive the practice forward and manage a nursing team with two Patient Care Assistants. The practice has been awarded a Silver Standard Cat-Friendly Clinic Award from the International Society of Feline Medicine (ISFM). It provides exceptional veterinary care including dedicated cat clinics and puppy socialisation classes.

The Role and Candidate:

Hours are 40 per week with a weekend rota of 1 in 6 full weekends at a nearby hospital with time back in lieu. There is also a fair share of bank holidays and on-call rota where the night team might need some support - this is spread fairly throughout nurses in the region. As well as your day to day duties within practice caring for your patients and clients, you will have the drive and ambition to develop the practice, optimising the client and patient experience, promoting safety while training, developing, and leading the entire nursing team.

You'll also be proactive in maintaining your own professional and clinical skills, carry out accurate and timely reporting and explore ways that the practice can further develop its standards. As an RCVS Registered Veterinary Nurse, you'll already have good knowledge of how a dynamic, practice runs efficiently and effectively. Sharing the values of being trustworthy, caring, and progressive, you'll also take the initiative in patient welfare and have caring, thoughtful communication skills. Just as important are the leadership skills essential to enabling your team to work as one and look ahead to see how they can be even better.

The Package:

This role offers a competitive salary depending on experience plus £300 CPD allowance with 2-days CPD leave and in-house training available, RCVS and VDS fees paid, 25 days annual leave plus bank holidays, and exclusive company discounts and rewards.
