Permanent Head/Clinical Lead Veterinary Surgeon, Sunderland

We are working with an established small animal veterinary practice that is based south of Sunderland in County Durham that is looking to recruit an experienced Veterinary Surgeon as their Head Vet/Clinical Lead. Are you ready for the next step in your career and want to join a practice that is continually growing? Then this might be the job you are looking for!

The Practice:

This is a small, friendly, independent practice, that provides individual care for dogs, cats, rabbits, and other companion animals. Their objective is to provide a complete healthcare package for their clients’ pets which includes the following: vaccinations, nurse clinics & puppy parties, behavioural advice, neutering, micro-chipping, pet dentistry, surgical procedures, radiography & cruciate repair. Their facilities include Digital imaging facilities, ultrasound, endoscope, diathermy, ECG & BP Monitoring, dental equipment, and house Idexx lab suite.

You will be able to develop your skills, enjoy the clinical flexibility of independent practice, manage and follow through with your own caseload & maintain client continuity, whilst being part of a small close-knit team. They have qualified support staff, all the usual toys, Animana practice management system, and great clients!

The Role and Candidate:

This independent practice is looking for an experienced Veterinary Surgeon to join their team in a Head Veterinary Surgeon / Clinical Lead role to join them on a full-time permanent basis. With regards to the rota, they would look at either a 4 day week of 8.30 am to 6.30 pm shifts, or a 5 day week with a mix of half and full / shorter days (depending on candidates preference). Both rotas would include allocated admin time and paid designated breaks.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Leading the clinical team
  • Day to day management of the working / operating diary
  • Recruitment and development of the clinical team
  • Mentorship and implementation of staff training / CPD
  • Development and roll-out of practice working protocols and procedures
  • Business development and practice growth

They are completely independent, and based at one site (so no traveling from branch to branch). Why not join a practice where you can make a difference, enjoy clinical freedom, work within a team where your opinions and input matter, and where change for the better is welcome.

Remuneration Package:

In return for all your hard work and dedication, our client is offering an excellent package that includes:

  • Salary - up to £75,000 per annum (depending on experience)
  • Holidays - 5 weeks plus statutory BH's
  • CPD Allowance - £1500
  • Professional fees paid (RCVS & VDS)
  • Option to join the company pension scheme
  • Discounted treatment for your own pets
